About Allyson
Allyson Kreider is currently pursuing her Doctoral of Musical Arts Degree in Flute Performance at the University of North Texas College of Music, studying under Terri Sundberg. As a Teaching Assistant, she is a member of the Graduate Center Woodwind Quintet.
Allyson dedicates herself to be a well-rounded performer through all mediums – as an orchestral player, chamber music player, and soloist of both traditional and contemporary repertoire. Allyson has been a teaching assistant or fellow at various orchestral festivals, such as: the Brevard Music Festival, the Roundtop Festival Institute, Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and the National Music Festival. She is a substitute for the New World Symphony and Denver Philharmonic.
As a part of the UNT Center Woodwind Quintet, the group has been named national finalists in the MTNA Chamber Music Competition, semi-finalists in the Coltman Chamber Music Competition, and quarterfinalists in the Fischoff Chamber Music Association Competition. Allyson has been named a prize winner and finalist in several competitions through various flute associations, including but not limited to: the National Flute Association, the Colorado Flute Association, the MidAtlantic Flute Association, and the Kentucky Flute Society. At the University of Colorado-Boulder, she was named a finalist in both the Graduate Concerto Competition and the Bruce Ekstrand Memorial Graduate Competition.
As a Presser Scholar, Allyson received the Presser Graduate Music Award for her proposal, “The Expansion of New Music for Woodwind Quintet: A Commission by Jeffrey Mumford.” This commission will be premiered by the UNT Center Woodwind Quintet in 2026.
Allyson received her B.M. in Flute Performance from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, as well as her M.M in Flute Performance from the University of Colorado-Boulder. Her primary teachers include Terri Sundberg, Christina Jennings, Dr. Erika Boysen, and Nina Assimkapolous.
Allyson, a passionate teacher, currently teaches privately in the DFW metroplex and formerly served as the Instructor of Applied Flute through the College of Continuing Education at the University of Colorado-Boulder.
